Fractured Generations: The Rise and Fall of the Family

The idea of the traditional family–men and women raising children together within the bonds of marriage or other committed relationships–tragically, is suffering a slow, torturous death in present-day America.  It can be argued that various segments of the progressive liberal movement are squarely to blame for its demise. This essay discusses the social ills that are causing what millions of people believe to be the premature ending of our very social order.

The make up of a family matters because God, who established the institution in the first place, had a purpose for designing it the way He did.

Using marriage as the covenant commitment to hold the family together, God’s design was for a male and a female to come together to produce children and then to raise those children together, teaching them all the things they needed to know in order to live honorably within His social order.

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one.  Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” The Gospel of Mark – Chapter 10:6-9 (NIV)
