The Problem of Sin
In the early 1970s comedian Flip Wilson played a female character named Geraldine Jones on his variety TV show. Her most famous line was “The devil made me do it.” It was a comedic line, which garnered a lot of laughs and even became a national expression. This statement, though now speckled with the all too familiar sentiments of comedic relief, clearly points to a far more significant reality that includes a very real enemy—and an undeniable human condition called sin. This article briefly discusses the later making reference to the former.
