Pastor Robert Foster was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago Illinois. At the age of eight years old, while attending Second Baptist Church of Harvey, IL, Pastor Foster accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Pastor Foster profess that there is no time in his life that he was not aware of his calling to preach the gospel. He knew his calling but needed spiritual direction. As a teenager Pastor Foster affirmed his salvation and call to the minister under the leadership of Pastor Rev. George B. Hunter, Jr. Finally, in the fall of 1988 Pastor Foster preached his first Sermon. Pastor Foster was then nurtured and developed by God through the late Pastor N. L. Robinson of the Mt. Oliver Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, Pastor Dr. Karry D. Wesley of the Antioch Fellowship Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and Bishop Alexis A. Thomas of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Phoenix, Arizona.
Pastor Foster Completed His formal education at Dallas Baptist University, Bishop College and Southern Methodist University. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree and a Masters of Religious Education Degree. Pastor Foster recently completed, his lifelong challenge, medical school at The University of Illinois. Pastor Foster is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Prior to coming to First Union Pastor Foster server as an officer in the United States Army, work as an educator, certified in chemistry and mathematics, in the Lancaster, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and Dallas Independent School Districts of Texas. Pastor Foster enjoyed the privilege of coaching football, basketball and track while engaged in education. These coaching opportunities allowed Pastor Foster to coach and consult at coaching in other levels of Sports. In addition to military service and the education field Pastor Foster has also worked in Corporate America as a computer programmer, business relations analyst, account executive, data center supervisor, Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Manager for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), National Financial Insurance Company, Whitehat Data Services, American Computer Group, Mercantile National Bank, Baylor Memorial Hospital and others.
December 26, 2003 Pastor Foster answered the call of the First Union Missionary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Pastor Foster, and with the faithful members of First Union, Praise and Worship as well as Training and Church Governmental Operational Systems were put into place. Pastor Foster has started an active Witness and Outreach Ministry, Food Pantry and Clothing Give A way Ministry, Greeting Ministry, Children’s Church, New Member Orientation, He is Risen Extravaganza, Christmas Toy Give A Way, First Union Positive Teenager Ministry and Prayer Ministry.
The family is considered to be a precious and cherished gift to our pastor. Pastor Foster is married to the lovely Nedra Foster. Pastor Foster is also the proud parent of David, Tekisha, Caleb, Tammy, Brittany, Kelcee and Kaycee. Pastor Foster is Grateful to God for his family.
